Dr. Markus Hofmeyr, Director of the Rhino Recovery Fund (RRF), recently appeared on the Think Wildlife Podcast to discuss how the RRF is supporting projects to protect Asia’s three rhino species—greater one-horned rhinos, Javan rhinos, and Sumatran rhinos.
While greater one-horned rhinos have seen significant recovery in India, Sumatran and Javan rhinos, both found in Indonesia, are dangerously close to extinction with less than 100 individuals of both species remaining. The RRF supports incredible grantees like Aaranyak, International Rhino Foundation, Leuser Conservation Forum, and Wildlife Trust of India to help these rhino species recover and have a more secure future.
