Munywana Conservancy Rhino Conservation and Community K9 Project

Type Tackling Trade in Rhino Horn
Grant Amount $90,661
Duration 2 years

The Munywana Conservancy (also known as Phinda) contains a rhino population of global significance. This RRF grant will enable and assist the conservancy in maintaining its current effective management and protection of this population. It will continue to add effective layers of protection and conservation, but also provide benefits and skills to the local community through employment. The Munywana Conservancy has been involved in a number of ground breaking translocations of both black and white rhinos to Botswana, Malawi, and Rwanda. The project’s aim is to continue the achievement of zero losses and maximum growth rate of the population so they can continue to provide and donate rhinos to supplement existing and new populations.
