This World Rhino Day, join us in honoring one of Earth’s most iconic and ancient animals. Thanks to the support of our donors, the Rhino Recovery Fund has funded 57 projects in 13 countries to date. Every dollar donated is sent straight to the field, investing in effective projects that recover rhino populations across Africa and Asia.
To celebrate World Rhino Day this year, we want to share the inspiring story of how African Parks, a private NGO and RRF grantee, helped completely transform Malawi’s Majete Wildlife Reserve. Majete was once a place where poaching and unsustainable land management caused virtually all wildlife to vanish, but through 20 years of wildlife reintroductions—including black rhinos—and community engagement, African Parks has helped turn Majete into the flagship reserve of Malawi.
We’re excited to share our StoryMap chronicling African Parks’ impressive restoration of Majete, how they’ve created a key population of black rhinos, and how private sector involvement led to one of Africa’s most successful wildlife recovery projects.
This achievement and all of the incredible projects funded by the RRF are only possible thanks to the generosity of our donors. Our community’s continuous support powers rhino recovery and is turning the tide in their favor, and all of us at the RRF are tremendously grateful for the trust placed in us to create a better future for rhinos.
Happy World Rhino Day!
