Grantee | Wildlife Crime Prevention |

Type | Tackling Trade in Rhino Horn |
Grant Amount | $150,960 |
Duration | 1 year |
Due to the continued threats to rhino populations across Southern Africa, Wildlife Crime Prevention (WCP) works closely with the Department of National Parks and Wildlife (DNPW) and local protected area partners to ensure the security and safety of Zambia’s rhino. This partnership with the Rhino Recovery Fund will support WCP to work with local partners and capacitate DNPW to monitor and address any increased threat. Over the years, Zambia has been used as a transit country moving rhino horn from source to market. Through our mandate and agreements with a variety of government agencies such as DNPW and Drug Enforcement Commission and National Prosecution Authority, WCP will support efforts to disrupt transnational wildlife criminals in Zambia and across the region. The team will also work closely with protected area partners to prepare landscapes for future rhino reintroductions addressing internal and external threats.
